Adventurine Spiral Bowl
A spiral of glittering adventurine green punctuated with chunks of deep cobalt blue snakes its way up this decorative bowl. Mystic bubbles float, captured in the glass, and a delightful crinkle on the back lends further depth. The two-pound bowl has a satisfying heft and thickness, making it pleasant to hold.
Four firings in the kiln, each taking upwards of twelve hours, are required to form this bowl. First, the spiral is formed by filling a mold with small particles of glass, then firing it in the kiln. The bowl is a double layer of glass, also fired in the kiln to fuse the layers together. In the third firing, the spiral is bonded to the clear base, and in the fourth firing, the flat disc is slumped into a bowl.
Eight inches in diameter, two inches deep.
